Ven Pongal recipe

Hello friends,

This is my first Blog and I was thinking on what Recipe I should share with you all first.....

 Here comes the authentic and delicious Tamil Nadu recipe  "வென் பொங்கல்"(Ven Pongal). It can be prepared very easily, quickly and ideal for a breakfast as it is high in calories.



Ingredients:

1.Raw rice - 2 cups
2.Moong dhal - 1/2 cup (1cup rice:1/4 cup moong dhal proportion)
3.Pepper corns - 10 or even more according to your preference.
4.Cashew nuts - 10 or even more if you like cashews(who does'nt like uh)
5.Grated ginger - 1 tsp
6.Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
7.Green chillies - 2(optional)
8.Curry leaves - little
9.Ghee - 2 tsp
10.Salt to taste


Preparation:

1. Cook Rice, Moong Dhal, salt in a pressure cooker. Make sure the rice is cooked well or else mash it with a spoon.
2. Heat a pan and add ghee. Fry cumin seeds,pepper corns, cashew nuts, grated ginger, green chillies, curry leaves until the cahews turn golden brown.
3. Mix the Roasted ingredients in Step 2 with the rice cooked with Moong dhal.
4. Garnish it with cashew nuts.
5. Ven Pongal can be served with medhu Vadai/coconut chutney/Sambhar.
